Six Harbour Walk - 2012

The Six Harbour walk has supported a very large number of charities and good causes locally, nationally and internationally. This year the charities included:

CRUK Main Logo

Cancer Research UK

"Whilst drug developments and treatment are essential, preventing and diagnosing cancer early are crucial in beating cancer."

Cancer research saves lives! Survival rates have doubled in 40 years. Every year Cancer Research UK spends hundreds of millions of pounds on research into diagnosing, preventing and treating cancer. Cancer Research UK is the biggest single independent funder of cancer research in Europe, supporting the work of more than 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK.

The Samaritans

“Ensuring callers remain at the heart of what we do”
" I desperately needed to talk to someone to support me through a ver difficult period of my life.  I don't think I would be here now if it wasn't for you."

Samaritans is available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.  With over 1000 volunteers in 20 branches across Scotland, including Elgin, Samaritans in Scotland contribute to the 24 hour a day service provided by our volunteers across the UK.

John Muir Trust

"We aim to achieve better decisions for the environment"

The John Muir Trust is a leading UK charity dedicated to the protection of wild land for both nature and people. Scottish-born John Muir inspired our name and ethos, as the first person to call for action to be taken to protect wild land, and an instrumental figure in the modern conservation movement. The John Muir Trust educates people about the value of wild places through the John Muir Award. It has so far helped over 50,000 people gain an appreciation of such places.

Support for Charitable Organisations working in the Local Community

The proceeds of the walk will be used to support  local charities and voluntary organisations. The Rotary Club of Buckie is also very keen to support the amazing local volunteers who improve the lives of children and adults in so many ways.  Applications are invited from local groups.
